Why not visit the Rochford District Community Archive which is a repository for memories, photographs, articles and other digital artefacts relating to the Rochford district in south-east Essex. Launched on 2nd April 2011 at the Essex Records Office, the archive is run by volunteers from the Rochford district.
Rochford District Community Archive needs your memories, stories and photos of ordinary peoples' lives. Their archive is on the internet and is available for anyone to look at and you are invited to contribute your own content.
The archive will be a permanent record of the lives of ordinary people who have lived and worked in the Rochford District: Rayleigh, Rochford, Hockley, Hawkwell, Canewdon, Paglesham, Barling, Great and Little Wakering, Rawreth, Ashingdon, Sutton with Shopland, South Fambridge, Great and Little Stambridge, Hullbridge, Wallasea, Foulness and all the Islands.
They are interested in reminiscences, photos or any other memorabilia you have about everyday life in the Rochford District. We do not need to keep any of your photos, maps etc but will scan them and return them to you.
To get in touch with them directly please telephone: 01268 775830 (Rayleigh Library) or leave your details with your local library or the mobile library and we will contact you. We can arrange to meet you at any of the libraries in the Rochford District or at your home.
They make a plea for your help in preserving your memories for future generations. Other ways to get in touch with them are:
